THE TAGME CERTIFICATION PROCESS CONSISTS OF TWO PARTS

PART I: The Monitored Assessment includes a series of true/false, yes/no, or multiple choice questions taken from ABOS and ACGME guidelines and documents

  • Institutional requirements
  • Common program requirements
  • Glossary of Terms
  • Orthopaedic Surgery program requirements
  • Competencies
  • Acronyms commonly used by Graduate Medical Education

Part I of the certification process will take place on September 27, 2008 at the locations listed above.

PART II: The Work Effort Product is designed to assess the applicant's knowledge of the function of his/her program and determine their ability to access information and knowledge of orthopaedic-specific requirements. The Work Effort is basically a document that is e-mailed to the applicant and can be downloaded and completed in the comfort of one's own surroundings. The deadline for return of the Work Effort Product is September 27, 2008.

The application schedule is as follows:

  • Applications are now being accepted for the Open Assessment: application deadline is June 6, 2008.
  • Approved applicants will receive Work Effort Product by e-mail no later than June 20, 2008.
  • Monitored Assessment will take place: September 27, 2008
  • Deadline for return of Work Effort Product: September 27, 2008

Upon successful completion of both required parts of the process, the names of successful candidates are recommended for certification to the TAGME Board of Directors and certification is then officially awarded.

The next opportunity to apply for the certification process will be September 1-November 30 2008 for the Monitored Assessment offered at the 6th Annual ARCOS meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada. The ARCOS meeting is tentatively scheduled for February 24-27, 2009.
