ARCOS continues to flourish and grow… We are part of a national professional organization, which opens the door to countless benefits. Our membership allows for communication throughout the year, an invaluable tool for networking, planning, and gathering information. What a wonderful opportunity to share experiences and knowledge with others on the same journey! It’s hard to believe that recruitment season is over. We now anxiously await the results from the Match. Some of us are rethinking and developing a different recruiting strategy for next year, some are preparing for an upcoming site visit or internal review, and some are getting some R&R and taking a deep breath—the beat goes on! I would like to thank the Steering Committee members for their support and also for arranging a wonderful program this year in New Orleans. We’re looking forward to the annual meeting; our support of one another validates our expertise and knowledge and the way it contributes to the success of our Programs. Who else can possibly know or understand our frustrations and joys in the day-to-day details of residency administration like another coordinator! We share and compare, empathize and rejoice because it is an intrinsic part of our job. As always, it will be a pleasure to see seasoned coordinators and to welcome new members just starting on this fascinating journey. We are pleased to announce that Dr. E. Anthony Rankin, past president of AAOS, will be the ARCOS 2010 Frederick N. Meyer, M.D., Keynote Speaker. Our plans are to attend the AAOS Opening Ceremony on Wednesday. The ARCOS Business Meeting (members only) will be held Thursday morning (prior to traveling to Morial Convention Center). We will again be attending the AAOS Ceremonial Meeting to hear the Guest Speaker presentation. Lunch on your own and return to the Ritz-Carlton. Additionally, we are pleased that ARCOS continues to support the AAOS Playground Project as a Bronze Level sponsor. This year I am delighted to announce that we will have our first combined meeting with AOA-CORD on Friday morning. You will not want to miss out on all the informative presentations, so be sure to make it part of your agenda. Also, make plans to enjoy dinner with friends. Join members of the ARCOS Steering Committee to dine out in New Orleans. Reservations have been made at Mulates (website: www.mulates.com). Special Prize Drawings will take place daily. On the last day of the ARCOS meeting, there will be a special drawing. You must be present to win! The ARCOS website has become a valuable tool for information and education and networking among coordinators. If you have a question or information to share with other coordinators, please visit our website: www.arcosonline.org. If you have any questions or would like to speak to an ARCOS Steering Committee Member directly, we invite you to contact any ARCOS Steering Committee Officer or Member-At-Large. |
